Course Structure

The course is divided into four main parts:

  1. Lecture: 6-weeks of lectures and discussions, totaling approximately 2 hours per session, twice a week.
  2. Skills Lab: Practical instruction in the lab, including live venipunctures.
  3. Assessments: Students are evaluated through quizzes, a comprehensive final examination, and a final skills evaluation on venipuncture technique and professionalism.
  4. Clinical Externship: Following the on-site portion, a 40-hour clinical externship is conducted at a local healthcare facility, which is usually completed in one week.

Admission Requirements

To enroll, applicants must be at least 18 years old and hold a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.

Externship

Upon completion, students may opt to sit for the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) exam to become a Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT). This certification is optional but can enhance job market competitiveness.
