Course Structure and Certification

The program is divided into two parts. The first part includes lectures and labs focusing on the role of phlebotomy technicians, anatomy and physiology of the circulatory system, standard precautions, client and specimen identification, venipuncture collection, and bedside manners. The second part covers quality assurance, medical terminology, legal aspects of phlebotomy, and practical skills. The externship requires students to perform additional venipunctures and capillary sticks. Upon completion, students are eligible for the National Health Careers Association Certification exam.

The course is a 6-week hybrid program, combining online classes via ZOOM and in-person labs. Students are expected to manage online homework for 2-3 hours daily and adhere to a strict schedule for testing and assignments. The program concludes with eligibility for the NHA exam.

Graduates will be proficient in patient preparation, venipuncture, capillary sticks, specimen collection, infection control, and professional communication. The program focuses on producing competent phlebotomists capable of performing various laboratory procedures safely and efficiently.
